Samsung W2017 flip phone to release in Korea soon

Samsung W2017

Nearly 6 months ago, the South Korean tech giant had launched the Samsung W2017, a high-end flip phone in China. Back then, rumor had it that the company will limit the smartphone only for the Chinese market.

However, a new report surfaced online suggesting that the Samsung W2017 will indeed be launched in markets outside China. According to an official from a Korean mobile carrier, the smartphone will hit the company’s home country soon.

A particular time frame, though, is not available currently. For the unaware, the Samsung W2017 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset paired with 4GB of RAM. It packs 64GB of onboard storage which is further expandable.

The W2017 has two 4.2-inch Super AMOLED displays, one internally and one externally. Both of them are Full HD in terms of resolution.

There’s a 12MP f/1.9 camera at the back for photography enthusiasts and a 5MP shooter at the front for selfies. The 4G enabled smartphone is quite bulky weighing in around 208g. Despite this, there’s only a 2,300mAh battery inside. Other features include a fingerprint sensor at the back, Always On Display, and support for fast wireless charging as well as Samsung Pay.

There’s no word on the pricing details of the smartphone but is expected to bear a high price tag akin to the company’s flagship handsets.
