It seems like lady luck is smiling all the way at Samsung. After witnessing its flagship products Galaxy S8 and S8+ break all records, Samsung may soon topple Intel and become world’s top chipmaker by the end of Q2, The Investor stated citing a report.
During the first quarter this year, Samsung posted US$13.5 billion sales which is just below the US$14.2 billion sales of Intel. However, things could take a different turn in the second quarter, as per a data compiled by industry tracker IC Insights.

In a report IC Insights said:
If memory market prices continue to hold or increase through the second quarter and the balance of this year, Samsung could charge into the top spot and displace Intel, which has held the No. 1 ranking since 1993.
In the next quarter, that is during the April-June period, Samsung is expected to post sales of US$14.9 billion while Intel’s likely sale of US$14.4 billion will stay close to its last quarter sales. And with US$14.9 billion, Samsung will post an increase of 7.5 percent as compared to Q1 displacing the chipmaker king Intel to occupy the top position.

Makes sense as Samsung is slowly rising the for the RAM chips which is the reason why prices for an 8gb ddr4 2400mhz went from Rs.2500 a few years ago to a hefty Rs.4000-5000 for a single 8gb ddr4 2133mhz RAM .Prices are estimated to start dropping around Q4 this year so most people would stay away from upgrading till then but till then Samsung would reel in quite a lot of profits and moreover Intel is about to launch their Coffee lake line in the second half of this year and promises about 15% performance increase when compared to Kaby lake and also release a non-hyperthreaded 6-core i5 .This would help Intel boost sales as most people who stayed away from Kaby Lake will obviously choose this instead.This should show a higher chip sales from Intel by the end of this year.
that’s crazy but at the same time makes u think why this happened, we generally upgrade a PC by just upgrading the internal parts in them like processor, RAM or graphics but that happens once or twice a year and for the laptops once every 2-3 years but when it comes to smartphones people r buying it like crazy, it’s due to the development happened in the smartphones and tablets that they can perform the same tasks as laptops and PCs and r much more affordable!! everyone has a smartphone but not the laptop or PC and the rate samsung selling their smartphones and other companies which r using samsung’s Exynos processors and after the partnership with Qualcom processors, I won’t be surprised if they become the largest chipmaker before the end of Q2!!
