Samsung is at it again. The Korean manufacturer has released a teaser video, asking viewers to “get ready” for the CES as they will be showing off “something new” at the biggest electronics conference next month, in a bid to build up anticipation for whatever the company has in store for us, as we move into 2013 and out of an extremely exciting year for mobile.

The industry is rife with speculation that the Galaxy S4 will be unveiled or at least talked about at CES, though with the Galaxy S3 less than seven months old, that’s something that has very few chances of happening. I for one get the feeling that we may be getting to see the first smartphone running Tizen, the open source HTML5-based OS that Samsung is working on with Intel, as it would fit well in the “something new” category.

It would also give Samsung, and Tizen, the edge over other open source OS that are being developed by companies for a release next year, such as Mozilla’s Firefox OS or Jolla’s Sailfish. However, since the CES is an electronics show and not a smartphone conference, it could very well be another device, such as a TV, camera, or some appliance, or even a Windows Phone 8 device.

CES 2013 is set to take place from January 8th to 11th, so we aren’t too far away from seeing what Samsung will unveil, but the guesses and rumors will no doubt keep coming in from all corners of the mobile world. I personally am hoping for a glimpse at a Tizen device, as I’m all for more open source alternatives to Android, though the chances of success of new ecosystems are debatable. But hey, no harm in wishing, right?

What do you guys think?
