Samsung rolls out Galaxy A5 Oreo update in Russia

Galaxy A5 2017 Oreo

In mid-March, a Samsung Oreo update roadmap leaked, revealing that the Galaxy A5 2017 will start receiving Android Oreo somewhere in spring or summer. A little over two weeks ago, the phone received Wi-Fi Alliance certification with Oreo on board, which meant that the official rollout was close.

Well, it was indeed as the Galaxy A5 2017 has just started receiving Android Oreo in Russia. The update is rolling out over the air and installs software version A520FXXU4CRD5 and not only installs Oreo, but also the latest April 2018 security patches.

It’s no surprise that Russia is the first market to receive Android Oreo on the Galaxy A5 2017. The story was the same when Nougat rolled out to the device back in 2017, where the first release happened in Russia. Although we haven’t seen cases of the Galaxy A7 2017 receiving Oreo, it shouldn’t be long before it joins the party, probably alongside the Galaxy A8 and A8+.

The update weighs about 1.3GB and thus you’ll need a stable Wi-Fi connection to download and install it. We expect that other regions will also start receiving Oreo on the Galaxy A5 2017 sooner than later.
