Samsung may delay Galaxy S8 and S8+ shipments due to supply shortage

The unprecedented response generated by Galaxy S8 and S8+ has set Samsung’s sales soaring. At the same time, it has caused worries for the Korean giant as demand is over-powering the present rate of supply leading industry watchers to surmise that the shipments of the flagship smartphones may face a delay.

The Investor quoted an official from a local mobile carrier as saying:

The registration is being delayed as some of the preorder customers did not receive their top-of-the-line 6GB RAM Galaxy S8 Plus smartphones with 128GB of memory.

Samsung opened pre-orders for Galaxy S8 and S8+ from April 7th to April 17th. During this period the pre-orders crossed the 1 million mark, registering a new record for Samsung’s smartphones. On the first day of preliminary release on April 18th, around 260,000 units of Galaxy S8 and S8+ smartphones were registered with the country’s three mobile carriers which fell to around 60,000 units on April 19th.

Presently, 500000 units of Galaxy S8 smartphones have been registered with carriers, which as per an industry watcher, Samsung may face hurdles in supplying.

Meanwhile, Samsung registered another record with 1.6 million people visiting Galaxy S8 experience zones in Korea.

  1. this shows that even Samsung didn’t expected to get such overwhelming response to their newly launched product!! beat every pre-order record of samsung mobile’s till date!!

  2. They should’ve known that it was going to turn into an outbreak lol .Especially with such a neat design and great specs who wouldn’t want it

  5. Overwhelming response yes but this is always the case with sought out product releases. Supply doesn’t meet demand sadly. I can empathize with the people waiting but I can empathize with Samsung too.
