Samsung Galaxy Tab A 2016 to get Android Oreo update soon, clears Wi-Fi Alliance

A few hours ago, Samsung started rolling out an update to Android 8.1 Oreo for owners of the Galaxy Tab A 2017. This slate stopped by the Wi-Fi Alliance in mid-September and at the time, it was accompanied by the Galaxy Tab A 10.1 2016, however, the latter’s update to Oreo has yet to begin rolling out.

Now, as if giving us more assurance that indeed the Galaxy Tab A 2016’s update to Oreo is around the corner, fresh listings on the WFA have surfaced showing off the slate with Oreo on board, further implying that the rollout is imminent.

The model numbers in question are SM-T580, SM-T580X, SM-T585N0, SM-T585C and SM-T587. While the last time the Tab A 2016 made a stop at the WFA it was accompanied by the S Pen variant, this time it’s nowhere in the picture, although this doesn’t mean it won’t be upgraded to Oreo.

We had recently received reports from Samsung Turkey claiming that the Tab A 2016 update to Oreo will arrive on December 30th, but of course, this is with respect to the Turkish market and not necessarily the rest of the Tab A 2016 family across the globe.
