Galaxy Sport clears FCC, US launch imminent

Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Sport watch has just cleared the FCC. Identified with model number SM-R500, the watch has already been seen in various renders and is said to be codenamed “Pulse”.

Since the watch just cleared FCC we’re expecting to see the device be launched in the US sometime late next month or early in March, however, the dates could be pushed back further as well.

The device would run on Samsung’s own Tizen OS rather than Wear OS and would come with 4GB RAM and the screen size should remain the same as the Gear Sport which it would be succeeding.

Samsung has now brought over the “Galaxy” branding to its watches which is why the watch would no longer have the “Gear” name attached to it and would rather be called the Galaxy Sport.

The Galaxy Sport would be coming in a bunch of colors such as black, green, silver, and pink gold. Currently, we’re unsure if the device would retain the rotating bezel or if Samsung has decided to ditch the rotating bezel for something more subtle.

It’s also possible that the device would be revealed along with the Galaxy S10 lineup which is expected to be released on 20 February this year at Samsung’s Unpacked event although there’s no information to confirm this.
