The Galaxy S8 is no longer Samsung’s flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S9 is. This means the former will trail the latter in terms of Samsung Android 9 Pie update, just like the S7 trailed the S8 when Android Oreo started rolling out earlier this year. The first Oreo update arrived on the S7 in April 2018 and carrier variants joined in June 2018. If anything, we are looking at similar timelines with respect to the Galaxy S8 Pie update, where the unlocked global variant could receive the OS in April 2019 while the rest of the carrier variants will follow in May and June 2019.

Samsung One UI

For the uninitiated, Samsung has once again changed its Android skin from Experience to One UI. Given the skin is part of Android 9 Pie, the Galaxy S8 will also get it. You can check out more about this new skin on this page.
