Samsung Galaxy S8 in the US receives Android Pie beta 2 OTA update ZSBB

Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ users in Europe and Asia started receiving the stable update to Android 9 Pie a couple of days ago, but it’s only now that the second Pie beta is arriving on the U.S. variants of the duo.

The update is rolling out to the unlocked variants for the U.S. market with model numbers SM-G950U1 and SM-G955U1 for the S8 and S8+, respectively. The software build number is ZSBB and weighs 163MB, tagging along this month’s Android security patch.

Also, the changelog says build ZSBB fixes issues with camera error, mobile data couldn’t be used because APN wasn’t restored when upgrading to the initial Pie beta, network initialization when roaming, TV screen couldn’t be imported with Smart View, excessive battery drain, as well as performance and stability fixes.

Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus Pie beta 2 USA

Europe received four beta versions of Pie before finally switching to the stable version a while ago. We don’t know whether this will be true for the unlocked U.S. models of the S8 and S8+, but if that’s the case, we could be facing a wait of several weeks before the OS hits the stable channel.

If you can’t wait to get hands-on with the new One UI, you can as well take advantage of the many offers available for the Samsung Galaxy S10, which has Pie out of the box and is guaranteed to receive at least two more OS upgrades. Still, you’ll have to wait until March 8th before the device arrives, assuming you pre-order right away.
