Samsung has started rolling out a new firmware update to the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. The new software update brings along the February security patch.

The update simply installs the latest security patch and nothing more. Yet, it is recommended that those who own the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge devices should definitely install this update.

The latest update is still Marshmallow based, but we do hope Samsung to release the Android 7.0 Nougat to these devices soon.

Already, Galaxy S6 Active and S6 Edge Plus running Android 7.0 Nougat have been spotted online on benchmarking sites. Based on this, we expect the S6 and S6 Edge devices to follow suit and get updated to Nougat OS.

The update is being rolled out as Over The Air (OTA) and should hit your devices anytime soon. If you are too impatient to wait, you can check for it manually by heading to Settings » About device » System updates. Connect your devices to a WiFi network before hitting the download button and get it fully charged to avoid any kind of mishap.
