Samsung has this habit of releasing the same phone under different names in various markets. For instance, phones that some folks know as the Galaxy J7 Prime and Galaxy J7 Prime 2 also go by the names Galaxy On7 and Galaxy On7 Refresh in other markets, respectively.
While the Galaxy J7 Prime and J7 Prime 2 already made the switch to Android 8.1 Oreo a while back, it is only now that we are discovering of the update’s availability for the Galaxy On7 and On7 Refresh.
Where the former is getting an update carrying software version G610LKLU1CRK8, the latter is receiving software version G611KKKU1BRK6. Both updates are rolling out over the air and besides Oreo, you also get a new Android security patch for the month of November 2018.
Looking at the firmware versions, we can tell both updates are targeting users of both devices in South Korea, but it shouldn’t be long before other regions join the party, so be patient if you own any of these two phones.
