Galaxy Note 8 Oreo update: Android 8.0 OTA available on the web already!

Galaxy Note 8 Oreo update

Update [February 12, 2018]: Although Android 8.0 Oreo is not ready for official download, some people already have it on their Galaxy Note 8 devices. Thanks to folks at the XDA Developers forum, we have a multitude of screenshots of the Oreo-based Note 8, with some of them revealing a handful of new features the OS comes with.

One notable addition is a new keyboard that comes with inbuilt stickers and GIF search. While the toolbar might be cute to some, it’s possible to disable it if you don’t like it. It’s also possible to customize the colors of the keyboard when in High Contrast mode while the Blue Light filter has received an extended Color Lens menu for fine-tuning colors.

After Android Oreo, Samsung Galaxy Note 8 users will now enjoy better memory management in Samsung Cloud thanks to the multi-colored progress bar and cards with detailed information about storage usage. Even better, users can now create a shortcut to Samsung Cloud on their Note 8’s home screen.

We don’t know when exactly the Galaxy Note 8 Oreo update will go live, but since the S8 and S8+ Oreo is now rolling out, it shouldn’t be long before the Note 8 joins the party.

Update [January 14, 2018]: Yet another Android 8.0 Oreo update for the Note 8 has leaked out on the web, even though Samsung is yet to announce the update officially. But we can smell its launch already. The new Oreo OTA comes as software version N950FXXU2CRA1.

Update [December 11, 2017]: Even though Samsung hasn’t given us when they plan to release the Oreo for Note 8, an OTA based on Android 8.0 has already leaked on the internet. It’s available for download, too, and we provided a definitive guide to help you download Note 8 Oreo and install it manually.

Original article: The first firmware for Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is now available for download. usually, we expect the firmware for a global variant to come out for Samsung devices, but this time around it’s the USA model for which the Note 8 firmware is available.

You have the Galaxy Note 8 firmware for Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon and US Cellular already available. We hope the AT&T Galaxy Note 8 firmware is out soon too, but given the history of AT&T firmware, we may have to wait for a longer than usual for this one.

Anyway, we’re sure you would be also looking for the news about Galaxy Note 8 Oreo update. Well, there is no news per say, but let us tell you that the Galaxy Note 8 is guaranteed to receive the Android 8.0 as an OTA update, in fact, it will surely receive the Android P 9.0 as an update too.

Samsung hasn’t confirmed which devices are set to receive the Oreo update first, and when, but we think the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus would score them before any other Samsung device, including the Galaxy Note 8. But right after GS8, the Note 8 users should start seeing the Oreo update roll out for their units.

We have provided the Galaxy Note 8 firmware below, along with the changelog that reveals what month’s security patch is included in the given software version.

Update [December 11, 2017]: Some really good news here, folks! The Oreo update for Galaxy Note 8 has leaked out on the web, and those of you interested in this can actually download and install it now. The Android 8.0 OTA that has been leaked is compatible for all Note 8 handsets in the US, as this one is for Snapdragon variants only, and the Note 8 sets sold in the US are that only. Samsung is yet to provide us anything on Note 8 Oreo, let alone timeline — worst, they are yet to release a stable Oreo build for Galaxy S8 and S8+. FYI, the Note 8 Oreo OTA seems like a stable build, not a beta one.

We are expecting Samsung to release the Galaxy S8 Oreo by the end of December 2017, which means that the Note 8 Oreo should be rolling out by Jan-Feb 2018.
