Galaxy M2 leaks out at Geekbench and AnTuTu, looks like a perfect budget phone competitor

Samsung Galaxy M2

Of late, a stream of leaks has suggested that Samsung might launch a new Galaxy M-series smartphone. Adding credence to the rumor, a purported Galaxy M2 with the model number SM-M205F has now hit the Geekbench and AnTuTu benchmarks. The same device was previously being known as the Galaxy M20 in the rumor mill.

Talking about the AnTuTu listing, the smartphone is going to sport a 1080×2340 pixels resolution display. Driving the handset is the in-house Exynos 7885 SoC mated to Mali-G71 MP2 GPU, 3GB RAM, and 32GB internal storage. However, the grapevine is abuzz with the speculation that the Galaxy M2 might also be offered in 4GB RAM/64GB storage, though it hasn’t been confirmed on any of the benchmarks yet.

As for the firmware, it might come with Android 8.1 Oreo pre-installed, although it would eligible for Android Pie. The smartphone has notched up of a score of 107,452 on AnTuTu.

The same spec sheet was revealed on Geekbench as well that the Galaxy M2 runs Exynos 7885 SoC clubbed with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage and Android Oreo out-of-the-box. The Galaxy M2 on Geekbench scores 1,319 points in single-score test and 4,074 in a multi-score test.

The specs of the Galaxy M2 appear to be modest, suggesting that it might be launched somewhere in INR.10,000-12,000 price bracket and will battle it out against the likes of the Honor 10 Lite and Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro. So far, Samsung was lacking in a device in this ballpark to counter its rivals.

For long it has been rumored that Samsung most likely is to replace its J-series of smartphones with M-series that too with a new-fangled zeal to competitive pricing. The Galaxy M2 with a full HD+ screen (better from earlier HD resolution displays) and just about decent specs seems to be fitting the bill. Given that it has appeared on two of the important benchmarks we expect it to be seeing the light soon.
