Samsung Galaxy J8 may soon launch in the US?

Samsung is rumored to be working on a new Galaxy J8 handset that should join the current Galaxy J series, which has proven to be quite successful not only in developing markets but also in established markets like the U.S.

An alleged Galaxy J8 recently appeared in benchmarks with model number SM-J800FN. However, Samsung being what it is – Samsung – seems to be working on a spin-off of this handset that could be unveiled not only in Asian countries but also in the U.S.

The first instance of this spin-off happened months ago, where it appeared on benchmarking platform GFXBench carrying model number SM-J720F. This has not been used before on a Galaxy J handset. Last year’s U.S. variants of the J7 had model number SM-J727 while the rest of the world got SM-J730, up from SM-J710.

As you can see, Samsung deliberately skipped the model number SM-J720, perhaps in readiness for another Galaxy J7 – or J8 – spin-off. Maybe we are talking a Galaxy J8 Prime or something similar? Your guess is as good as ours!

As noted earlier, the said Galaxy J8 spin-off will not only be unveiled in international markets but also in the U.S. This comes after the phone was spotted on the FCC website carrying model number SM-J720F, same as what we’ve seen before.

According to previous reports, the Galaxy SM-J720F will ship with a 5.5-inch HD display screen, Exynos 7885 SoC clocked at 1.5GHz, 4GB RAM, 32GB storage, 13MP/8MP back/front camera and run Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box.

April 3: Samsung publishes a manual for the Galaxy SM-J720F

Galaxy J7 DuoAlthough it’s still unknown what device the Galaxy Sm-J720 represents, the Korean company has already published a manual from which we can gather a few things about the upcoming phone, especially on matters design.

Sketches obtained from the manual show that the phone, which tipster Roland Quandt thinks might be called the Galaxy J7 Duo, will rock a dual-lens camera on the back akin to the Galaxy J7+ (Galaxy C8).
