April 29, 2019: Samsung has begun upgrading the Galaxy J4 and Galaxy J4+ to the latest Android 9 Pie OS, which has One UI on top. The same update also brings a new security patch for April 2019.
The update is arriving as version J400MUBU3BSDD for J4 uses in Panama, J415FXXU2BSDL for Vietnam and Thailand or version J415FXXU2BSDM for UAE users of the J4+. Those in Colombia with the J4+ are receiving version J415GUBU2BSD6 of the same update.
April 20, 2019: A new April 2019 security patch is rolling out to the Galaxy J4 with model number SM-J400M. The update is available over the air, meaning it will take some time before all J4 units receive the download notification.

Galaxy J4 Android 9 Pie update
- Android 9 Pie update for J4 and J4+ is now available
- The rollout is still ongoing, though
Samsung Galaxy J4 and J4+ users in various parts of the globe started receiving the update to Android 9 Pie on April 26. The update is expected to keep spreading to more regions and eventually everywhere by the end of May 2019.
As expected, Samsung One UI is layered on top of Pie.
