Samsung Galaxy J2 Prime launched in Bangladesh at price of BDT 11490

Samsung just went ahead and unveiled its super budget offering in Galaxy J2 Prime in Bangladesh today. It looks Samsung is on the fire in the country, where it also launched its premium handset in Galaxy C9 pro today, making it available on the pre-order, also handing a free Samsung scoop Bluetooth speaker to those who accept their offer.

The Galaxy J2 Prime was launched by Samsung in Europe around 2 months ago back in November 2016, and it’s yet to reach all markets where Samsung has some definite presence, but the list got shorter by one today. Our friends in Bangladesh could get the Galaxy J2 Prime for the price of BDT 11490, which roughly amounts to $145.

For the uninitiated, the Galaxy J2 Prime packs in expected mediocre specs: a 5.0″ TFT display that is powered at res of 540 x 960 pixels, and houses a quad-core Mediatek MT6737T processor clocked at 1.4GHz, coupled with Mali-T720MP2 GPU chip.

Moreover, the Galaxy J2 comes with 1.5GB RAM, 8GB storage, 8MP and 5MP camera at rear and front respectively, all powered by Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS from Google. It’s unclear whether Samsung has launched the single-SIM, or dual-SIM, or both of the variants of the device. But looking at the single price tag available, and the region’s user base, we think it’s dual-SIM model here.

In case you want a budget level handset from Samsung, with slight but noticeably improvement in processor, RAM, storage (and even Android 7.0), you might want to take a look at Galaxy J7 2017, which just got its specs leaked at GFXbench today, and is set for release world over soon, probably in February itself, including Asia, USA and Europe.

  1. Hi, Kapil

Any chance you could update your article you wrote a while back on whether or not Galaxy S4 L720 model will be seeing an update to Marshmallow?

    Thanks,

    1. Well, the Sprint Galaxy S4 is certainly not in the line for Marshmallow. Maybe there could be a custom ROM based on 6.0 available, but certainly no official update.
I think it didn’t even get Android 5.1.1 update.
