Update [April 18, 2017]: The Galaxy Grand Prime is up for another update from T-Mobile. The update which is identified as G530TUVU2AQD1, is Android 5.1.1 Lollipop based and is rolling out as OTA. We’re not sure if this installs the latest security patch as T-Mobile hasn’t mentioned so in its changelog. But the update will bring minor system optimizations and performance increases.

The December security patch is making its way to the Galaxy Grand Prime from T-Mobile. Though the smartphone hasn’t seen anything more than Android Lollipop, Samsung & T-Mobile are still providing security updates for the device.

The T-Mobile Galaxy Grand Prime December security update comes with firmware build number G530TUVS2APK2. And with the security patch, the update also brings improvements to domestic data roaming on the device.

The OTA update is on the roll as we speak, but if in case you haven’t received the update yet on your T-Mobile Grand Prime, be sure to go to Settings » About phone and check for system updates manually.

The Grand Prime won’t get past the Lollipop update officially, if you’re any bit interested in flashing a custom ROM, the folks over at XDA have an unofficial build of CyanogenMod 14 available for Galaxy Grand Prime.

Officially, Samsung is rolling out Nougat update to the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge which is currently on the fourth round of beta testing the update. Samsung will be releasing the Nougat OTA for the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge by the end of December.
