Samsung Galaxy Folder 2 LTE reaches Wi-Fi Alliance, nears its release

Samsung Galaxy Folder 2 isn’t a device many people are aware of. Samsung kept the whole release low-key when it was released in China in September last year. But finally, the Galaxy Folder 2 is now aiming for a global release as the device just received certification from Wi-Fi Alliance bearing the moniker SM-G165N.

Interestingly, this isn’t the only model that is coming up. Another model (SM-G160N) of the Galaxy Folder 2 was also spotted on Wi-Fi Alliance earlier this week. We guess, the G160N will be the 3G variant of the device, while G165N could be the LTE variant.

Cashing in on the nostalgia factor seems to be in trend. With HMD Global seeing success with its Nokia branded phones, Samsung now aims to please the retro flip-phone fans and if the company plays its cards right (read: aggressive marketing), chances are that the gamble might just pay off.

The Galaxy Folder 2 isn’t just an ordinary flip-phone. The phone is also capable of touchscreen functionality on its small 3.8 inch display. Housing a Snapdragon 425 chipset and 2GB of RAM, the device also includes 16GB of expandable storage. Surprisingly, it also packs an 8MP rear camera with LED flash and a 5MP selfie shooter. Although the battery is a measly 1,950 mAh, the device also includes Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of the box.

Users interested in looking up into Galaxy Folder 2 firmware can head over here to download the stock firmware. Do note that the firmware is for the Chinese variant and hence may include a fair share of bloatware.
