Samsung Galaxy A9 2018 arrives with a quad-lens camera on the back

Samsung today has officially unveiled the Galaxy A9 2018, which as was expected is the first smartphone to feature a main quad-lens camera.

That’s right! This handset features four sensors on the back and we’re going to take a look at each one in turn in a few seconds. But first, check out the main specifications of the device.

  • Extras: Bluetooth 5.0, USB-C, 3.5mm audio jack, Rear-mounted FPS, Facial Recognition, Samsung Pay, Dual-SIM, NFC, Fast battery charging, etc.

The phone has a glass back, but there’s no wireless charging included, as this is still a mid-range model after all. However, it’s definitely a special one thanks to the clusters of cameras on board.

Speaking of which, the main camera is a 24MP sensor with f/1.7 aperture, while the second one is a 10MP telephoto lens with f/2.4 and 2x optical zoom capabilities. Up next, there’s an 8MP ultra-wide sensor with the same aperture which offers a 120-degree field of view. The last camera is a 5MP with f/2.2 which is in charge of capturing depth information.

Pricing and availability

The Galaxy A9 2018 is expected to go on sale on November and so far we know it’s going to go on sale in Europe for €599 (Rs. 51,210 / $715) or and in the UK for £549. The phone will go on sale in Caviar Black, Lemonade Blue and Bubblegum Pink. The last two options are gradient color options.

It’s unclear whether Samsung plans to launch the device in other markets later on.
