Samsung Galaxy A6 receives July patch security update

Back in the old days, you’d either get your hands on a Samsung Galaxy flagship devices to enjoy the best in hardware and software, or make a compromise with a lower-priced mid-ranged Galaxy device. However, now in 2018 the gap between what you’d expect from a flagship and a decent mid-ranger has definitely shortened, with the newly released Galaxy A6 and A6 Plus as prime examples.

The Snapdragon 450 powered Android device was released back in May with a vibrant design change from its predecessor, the Galaxy A5, and comes with Android 8.0 Oreo installed right out of the box. In just the two months it has been out, the device has received security updates for both the consecutive months alongside the flagships. However, this month the Galaxy A6 races ahead of the others with the July security update already out for it.

Carrying build number A600FNXXU2ARF7 for the Galaxy A6 2018 (SM-A600FN), the update has begun rolling out for the users in Germany (DBT region) and should be incrementally rolled out of users across the European region in the coming days. If you have not received the software update on your Galaxy A6 yet, try looking for it manually by heading over to Settings – About device – Software update – Download updates manually.
