According to a new report, Samsung may be planning to announce a new variant of the DeX smart dock. The new dock, called DeX Pad, would be announced alongside the upcoming Galaxy S9 and S9+ in February next year.

The current DeX allows users to dock their Galaxy S8 and S8+, which can be connected to a TV or a monitor for a full blown PC experience. We’re not sure what the DeX Pad would do, but it sounds like a wireless solution.

Apparently, with the DeX Pad, you will be able to place your smartphone flat on the surface, allowing it to become a touch-pad. The Pad is said to be backwards compatible with the Galaxy S8, S8+, and the Note 8 as well.

Another report states that Samsung has started the mass production of 512GB eUFS drives for mobile devices. It is possible that the company could provide this new storage option on the Galaxy S9 series.

As per Samsung, the chip is the same size as the 256GB drive, and can save up to 130 files of 10 minute 4K video. The unit also has higher transfer speeds of 860Mbps(read), and 256Mbps(write). If Samsung starts using these drives on the new devices, then there are chances that they might get rid of the microSD slot.

Samsung is said to unveil the next generation Galaxy S9 and S9+ in late February, before the start of Mobile World Congress. The DeX Pad is said to be available during the release of the phone in April.
