Root Xperia Z5 Compact with Pre-rooted firmware (32.0.A.5.32)

The Sony Xperia Z5 Compact, which released only a few weeks ago already has root access, thanks to xda user nilezon. The rooting method is pretty simple, it’s an one-click batch program. But what goes inside it isn’t very simple.

nilezon has provided us a pre-rooted 32.0.A.5.32 firmware for Xperia Z5 compact in his one-click root tool. It’s a system image that’s flashable via Fastboot, so you need an unlocked bootloader first.

However, the pre-rooted system image won’t work unless you’ve a custom kernel as well. So to get around that, nilezon’s one-click root tool will first flash the Zombie kernel on your device and then flash the rooted system image.

This rooted system image that the one-click root program will install on your device is almost stock except for baked-in SU Binary and SuperSU app to obtain root access.

If we had a TWRP recovery for Xperia Z5 Compact; simply flashing SuperSU from recovery along with a custom kernel would have gotten us root. But we don’t have TWRP yet, so a rooted system firmware is what you’ll have to make do with to get root on Z5C, for now.

You can grab nilezon’s one-click root tool from the download link below, and follow the simple instructions below:

Instructions

Note: Make sure you’ve bootloader unlocked on your Xperia Z5 Compact and it’s running on the 32.0.A.5.32 firmware. If not, then the one-click root tool may not work on your Z5C.

  1. Enable USB debugging on your Xperia Z5 Compact:
    1. Open Settings » go to About phone and tap seven times on Build number, this will enable Developer options.
    2. Now go back to Settings and you’ll see “Developer options” there, open it.
    3. Tick the USB Debugging checkbox.
  2. Connect your Z5C to PC with an USB cable.
  3. Extract the Z5C_OnClick_320A532.7z file you downloaded above to your PC.
  4. Double-click/Run the RootME.bat file from the extracted files, and follow the on-screen instructions (if any).
└ Your Z5C may reboot a couple of times, it’s okay. Also, it’ll take take time, so sit back and relax.

That’s it. Your Xperia Z5 Compact should be rooted now. Happy Androiding!
