How to Root T-Mobile Note 5 on Marshmallow 6.0

One lucky T-Mobile Note 5 user recently received the Android 6.0 Marshmallow OTA update, which Samsung hasn’t officially released for the device yet.

Thankfully, the user pulled the OTA zip of the Marshmallow update from his T-Mobile Note 5 and shared it publicly over at xda for everyone’s pleasure. The experienced developers then used the contents of the OTA zip to build an Odin flashable Marshmallow firmware for the device.

If you haven’t yet installed the update, you can follow the detailed step-by-step guide from our folks over at The Android Soul to install Marshmallow on T-Mobile Note 5.

Now, about root, well you can root the T-Mobile Note 5 on Marshmallow 6.0 the same way like you rooted the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop firmware, using a custom kernel based on the leaked Marshmallow firmware (DOK5).

Developer Manh_IT over at xda has released a custom kernel for the DOK5 build which you can use to root T-Mobile Note 5 Marshmallow update. Grab the custom kernel from the download link below and follow the quick instructions to root below:

└ For help, follow our detailed guide on How to Install Custom Kernel using Odin
  2. Install T-Mobile Note 5 TWRP Recovery.
  3. Flash SuperSU zip from TWRP
└ Use SuperSU 2.52 beta version.
