Refurbished Galaxy Note 7 (Note FE) release date set for July 7, will ship with Bixby

The Galaxy Note 7R, the refurbished model of the ill-fated Galaxy Note 7, was said to be the name of the resurrected device that would’ve been the best smartphone on the market were it not for two quick recalls and a string of explosions. And just when former Galaxy Note 7 users believed the name to be set in stone (“R” for refurbished), Samsung went and named the device Galaxy Note FE, “FE” acronymic for “Fan Edition.”

After photos have leaked of the refurbished device and discussion has dragged on, it appears as though a release date has been set for the launch of the device. The Galaxy Note FE (the official name) will launch on July 7th, which conflicts with the earlier claim that the smartphone would release by the end of June. The phone was originally scheduled to hit the market on June 30th but was delayed due to a larger supply of units to mobile carriers than originally intended (450,000 units as opposed to 300,000 original units).

The device was said to retail for 699,600 won (or $630) at the time of its release, but the new price tag is around 740,000 to 760,000 won (between $653 and $671 USD).

Last but not least, the new Galaxy Note FE will ship with Bixby Voice and Bixby Home. Bixby is Samsung’s very own approach to artificial intelligence (AI), with the company having worked on the voice command assistant for 8 years. Bixby on the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ can provide more information about an object when you take a photo of it (Bixby Vision), bring up important calendar dates, help you voice type an email or text message, and even take a screenshot of an on-screen image.

The Galaxy Note FE features the same specs as the original Galaxy Note 7, with the exception being the 3,200mAh battery instead of the 3,500mAh battery found in the Note 7.
