The Redmi 5 Plus was unveiled in India as the Redmi Note 5 on Valentine’s Day and it seems Xiaomi is getting ready to unveil the standard Redmi 5 in the same market too. This follows the phone’s listing on the Wi-Fi Alliance, where it has been cleared with model number MDG1 and runs Android 7.1 Nougat.
We can’t give you a specific release date, but we know the Redmi 5 specs. They include a 5.7-inch HD+ (720 x 1440 pixels) 18:9 display, Snapdragon 450, 2/3/4GB RAM, 16/32GB ROM, 12MP/5MP back and front cameras and a 3300mAh battery unit with fast charging, but via a microUSB port. Since the Redmi 5 Plus aka Redmi Note 5 is priced at INR 9,999, the Redmi 5 should get a cheaper price tag, probably about INR 8,000.
