Qualcomm names ZTE Nubia Z17 as the first device to support Quick Charge 4+ but there’s a twist

Recently, we reported that Nubia Z17, from ZTE, might feature quick charge 4.0. We were right and wrong both. This is because, although, the device will feature Qualcomm Quick Charge 4.0, but it will feature the recently announced upgraded version of Quick Charge 4.0 that goes by the moniker Quick Charge 4.0+ (Note the plus).

Interestingly, this makes Nubia Z17 the first device to include Quick Charge 4+ support. However, there is a catch. Unfortunately, the Nubia Z17 won’t be able to utilize the power of Quick Charge 4.0+ in the beginning. The reason behind this hapless incident is the Quick Charge 3.0 charger that comes in the retail box.

The old Quick charge 3.0 charger doesn’t support the new technology and apparently, there are no chargers available for Quick Charge 4+. Having said that, currently, we have no information whether ZTE will provide additional chargers for Quick Charge 4+.

Quick Charge 4+, which includes all the benefits of Quick Charge 4, plus other enhancements, boasts of charging 15% faster with 30% more efficiency. In addition to that, it comes with three new features that include Dual Charge, Intelligent Thermal Balancing, and Advanced Safety Features.

Meanwhile, ZTE Nubia Z17, which was launched on first June 2017, packs whopping 8GB of RAM which makes it the world’s second phone to do so after the Asus ZenFone AR.  Besides that, the smartphone features a Snapdragon 835 processor, a 3,200 mAh battery, and 128GB storage.
