Chinese smartphone vendor OnePlus recently released new OxygenOS Open Beta updates to OnePlus 5 and 5T with improved Gaming mode and today, there is a new version rolling out to the stable channel as OxygenOS 9.0.4.
Like the beta version, the stable version has some good stuff on board for users of OnePlus 5 and 5T. The big addition here is the deep integration with Google Duo, meaning you can now place Duo calls directly from the stock Phone app.
The new update also improves the stability of network and OTA upgrades in general as well as installs a new Android security patch for January 2019. Of course, this isn’t the latest version available.
As usual, the update also tags along general bug fixes and system improvements. Being OTA rollouts, it may take several days before all OnePlus 5 and 5T users get the download notification, so be patient as you wait for the update to arrive. Alternatively, you can try forcing it via the Settings menu.
Both updates are based on Android 9 Pie, an operating system that has proven to be quite elusive for users of the older OnePlus 3 and 3T. On the brighter side, the company has recently shed some light on the matter and it looks like it’s all good. Only a matter of time!
