OxygenOS 9.0.17/9.0.9 update now rolling out for OnePlus 6T/6

OnePlus has started rolling out OxygenOS 9.0.17 and for 9.0.9 for the OnePlus 6T and OnePlus 6 respectively, bringing some key improvements.

The most expensive member of the lineup, OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition, is also receiving OxygenOS 9.0.17.

The Chinese OEM hasn’t been at its usual best when it comes to releasing software updates for its 2017 lineup. In August, even the OnePlus 5 and 5T got the latest security patch ahead of their successors, which didn’t sit well with most users.

This month, too, OnePlus hasn’t done anything to help its case and is still forcing OnePlus 6 and 6T users to wait for the September 2019 security patch.

The update doesn’t include the security patch, but it’s still fairly an important one. The OTA fixes the call recorder crashing issue, reactivates the calling function after network reset, and prepares the devices for future updates.

Here’s the complete changelog:

System

  • Fixed the crash issue with Screen Recorder
  • Re-activated the calling function after the network has been reset
  • This update will improve the overall system performance to prepare for later versions

Earlier in September, OnePlus released Open Beta 17 and Open Beta 25 for OnePlus 6T and 6, respectively. The update didn’t bring any noticeable changes, only preparing the devices for the imminent Android 10 update.

As confirmed by OnePlus, OxygenOS 9.0.17 and for 9.0.9 will also serve the same purpose, meaning it could only be days before the devices get the much anticipated Android 10 update.
