Optus to release March security update to Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, S5 and Galaxy S3 LTE later this month in Australia

Optus Australia is soon going to release new security updates for a couple of Samsung Galaxy smartphones. Owners of the Galaxy S3 LTE, Galaxy S5, Galaxy S6, and the Galaxy S6 Edge should soon get the update very soon, as it is currently under testing.

These are only security updates and will not bring any new features to your devices. The update will install the latest March Android security patch to keep your smartphone protected from the latest malware.

We aren’t sure when exactly the update would be released, but it should happen in the next week or so. The updates would be delivered via OTA, and owners of the supported devices should receive a notification.

All of these devices, except the Galaxy S3 LTE, are running on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. However, the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge are currently receiving the Android 7.0 Nougat update in Europe.
