Optus branded Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge to get Nougat update with WiFi calling in September

Although Samsung started rolling out Android Nougat update to Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge units way back in March, it is yet to hit these devices on Optus network in Australia. But that should change next month.

The carrier has mentioned in it software update page that Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge on its network will start soaking Android 7.0 Nougat in September. The update which will be pushed will also include WiFi calling and Google Security Patches.

Interestingly towards the beginning of this month the software update page of Optus carrier showed that the Nougat update for Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge has been withdrawn. Seems like the issue behind the pulling back of the update has been fixed as the updated page reveals that the wait of Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge users for Nougat OS will end next month.

The unlocked variant of the two mentioned devices have been updated to Nougat already. Also, the US carriers have also bumped up the software of Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge to Android Nougat. Thus, it is high time that the benefits of Nougat reaches Optus branded Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge.
