Being the industry leaders they are, Samsung and Huawei are the ones leading the rest not only in terms of innovation in the mobile industry but also when it comes to device support, especially on matters of software updates.

Although not the fastest, both companies have managed to release the latest Android 9 Pie updates to their latest flagship phones in various markets across the globe. The Galaxy S9 and S9+ first got the nod around Christmas time and later in early January, the Note 9 joined the party.

Unfortunately, these three have only received the Pie updates in Europe and some parts of Asia where the unlocked models are in use, although a similar update has recently been spotted in the U.S.

On the brighter side, at least for those in Australia, there is an update as to when to expect the arrival of the OS and apparently, Optus says Pie testing for the trio is complete and only awaiting the go-ahead to begin rolling out.

With no specific release date provided by the carrier, we can only hope that the wait won’t be long. If anything, the rollout should begin within the next few days or week for that matter.

As for the Huawei Mate 9, the carrier says the official rollout will begin somewhere in early or mid-March 2019. The Chinese vendor started trialing Pie on this 2016 gem in late 2018, but so far, the beta program is only limited to the Chinese market. The rest of the globe, including users of the device on Optus, will get the stable version.
