OnePlus 7 Pro 5G update: Download and install OxygenOS 9.5.4 OTA/firmware!

OnePlus 7 Pro update

Latest news

June 17, 2019: OnePlus is seeding a second software update to the 5G variant of the OnePlus 7 Pro in Europe as OxygenOS 9.5.4.

The new software is available over the air and brings quite a number of bug fixes and performance improvements to the device, including fixes for issues with the camera pop-up mechanism when the screen is off or locked and fingerprint animation persisting on the screen even after the device has been unlocked.

The update also optimizes the DC dimming feature, improves touch screen sensitivity, and optimizes double tap to wake and ambient display features, and more.

As noted, the new OxygenOS 9.5.4 is airborne, meaning some owners of OnePlus 7 Pro 5G may have to wait for a few days before the download notification arrives.

Update: The firmware file of OxygenOS 9.5.4 update is now available for download. See the table before for the link from OnePlus.

June 01, 2019: OnePlus has a new update for the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G arriving as OxygenOS 9.5.3.GM27BA and with it comes quite a number of additions and improvements, as provided in the changelog below.

  • System
    • Optimized Double Tap to Wake and Ambient Display
    • Optimized network connection to improve power consumption
    • General bug fixes and improvements
  • Network
    • Added Smart 5G function to better balance power consumption and user experience
    • Enable 5G SRS function

The incoming OxygenOS 9.5.3 update is arriving over the air and is quite heavy, weighing in at a whopping 2GB. Since the phone is currently available through EE UK only, this update is rolling out in this region.

There are a few cases of failed installation once the update completes downloading. It’s still unclear what’s causing this, but given other units have no problem upgrading to the new software, this could be an isolated issue.

OnePlus 7 Pro 5G Android Q update

  • Eligible for Android Q update
  • Stable release expected in Q4 2019

The unlocked OnePlus 7 Pro is already part of the ongoing Android Q beta program and given the device is basically the same as the 5G variant, we expect an update to Android Q stable to arrive somewhere in Q4 2019.

The standard Pro should get Q in Q3 2019, but due to the usual carrier-related delays, the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G’s update to Q will also delay by several weeks.
