How to take a screenshot on OnePlus 6T

OnePlus 6T

OnePlus has just launched the OnePlus 6T in all its glory. The device isn’t a major upgrade over its predecessor the OnePlus 6, however, the device now comes with an in-display fingerprint scanner and offers a much better battery life while the notch is now even smaller and resembles a teardrop. Biggest of all, it’s not available on carrier deal at T-Mobile, and supports the Verizon mobile network in the US, too.

If you’ve managed to get your hands on the brand new OnePlus flagship, then you might be trying to figure out all the features the device has to offer. One of the most useful features on any device is the option to take screenshots. Most manufacturers have their own methods for users to take screenshots on the device.

OnePlus hasn’t changed the method of taking screenshots from its previous devices which if absolutely fine since OnePlus users won’t have to keep figuring out the new ways to take screenshots, however, if you’ve just got your brand new OnePlus 6T and are new to the OnePlus family, then here’s our quick guide on how to take screenshots on your OnePlus 6T.

Method 1: Using the physical buttons

The easiest way to take a screenshot on any mobile device, regardless of the software version installed on it, is by using the hardware buttons. This method of taking a screenshot works on most other recent flagship devices too.

  1. Open the screen that you want to take a screenshot of.
  2. Press and hold the Power and Volume Down buttons simultaneously, until you hear the shutter sound along with a short vibration.
  3. The screenshot animation will appear and you will be able to view a toolbar right below the screenshot to immediately share or edit it.

Bonus: Take a scrolling screenshot

When you want to take a screenshot of something that simply won’t fit in a single snap, there’s a useful feature that the OnePlus 6T comes included with called the scrolling screenshot. The feature is present on the toolbar that appears right after you take a new screenshot.

  1. After you take a screenshot, press the scrolling screenshot icon on the toolbar.
  2. The screen will automatically begin scrolling and taking screenshots of the content present.
  3. You can stop the device from taking more screenshots by tapping on the screen, or wait for it to reach the end of the screen to stop automatically.

Once the process is complete, you’ll be able to view and edit the long screenshot right from the Screenshots folder or directly by pulling down on the notifications shade.

Method 2: Using a gesture

Not only does the OnePlus 6T have gesture-based navigation but you can also use gestures to take screenshots on the device as well. It seems as though gestures are the future for all smartphones.

To use the gesture-based screenshot method follow these steps:

  1. Open the screen that you want to take a screenshot of.
  2. Now just swipe with three fingers on the screen, either upwards or downwards. (Left and right three-finger swipe won’t work.)
  3. You will then be able to see the Share or Edit options for the screenshot right away. You also get the option to take a long scrolling screenshot (if possible for the given screen), along with an option to Delete the screenshot right away.

Method 3: Using Google Assistant

Google Assistant is slowly but surely evolving into an actual assistant. The Google Assistant can now even answer calls for you as seen on the call screening feature which launched with the Google Pixel 3. Taking a screenshot is an easy task for Google Assistant.

  1. Simply open the screen that you want to take a screenshot of.
  2. Say “Okay Google, take a screenshot” and wait as the Google Assistant performs the task.
  3. You will then be able to see the Share or Edit screen to send out the screenshot right away.

Keep in mind that the screenshots taken with the assistant are not saved automatically and you would have to save the screenshot manually.
