OnePlus 5T official Android Oreo OTA rolling out as OxygenOS 5.0.2

OnePlus 5T Oreo rollout

OnePlus has finally released the official Android Oreo update for the OnePlus 5T users. They were treated with beta version earlier, the latest of which arrived as Open beta 5 yesterday only, which excited users by adding iPhone X-like navigation gestures as well as ditching the controversial Clipboard app.

However, the OnePlus 5T Android 8.0 Oreo update comes as OxygenOS 5.0.2 and updates several apps to their latest versions too as shown in the changelog below. The update also fixes Spectre and Meltdown vulnerabilities, which suggests it installs the January 2018 security patch, too.

Here’s the full changelog of the OnePlus 5T Oreo update:

System

  • Upgraded Android version to Oreo (8.0)
  • Applied CPU security patch: CVE-2017-13218
  • General bug fixes and improvements

Applications

  • Updated Launcher to v2.2
  • Updated Gallery to v2.0
  • Updated Weather to v1.9
  • Updated File Manager to v1.7.6

Like with any other OTA, Android Oreo will reach out to a small section of OnePlus 5T users first before a wider the rollout, which means the whole process could take days or even a week. Alternatively, you can try a manual update via the Settings menu.

FYI, OnePlus has already updated the OnePlus 5 to Oreo, but it first rolled out to OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T.
