HMD Global, as you may already know, is the company behind the Nokia Android phones gracing the Android One program, and that includes the Nokia 6. Or the Nokia 6 series, now that there’s a Nokia 6.1 and Nokia 6.1 Plus. Well, it seems HMD Global is giving software support the seriousness it deserves.

HMD Global is doing the unthinkable with respect to Android 9 Pie updates. As of October 31, 2018, three Nokia devices have Android 9 Pie, two of them being the Nokia 6.1 and Nokia 6.1 Plus and the other, Nokia 7 Plus, which had access to Pie beta since May 2018 and got the stable in late September. The Nokia 6 is also expected to join the party, but the wait may go all the way up to Q1 2019.

HMD is on course to become the fastest non-Google OEM to release Android 9 Pie update to most of its devices, although Huawei has a flurry of devices trialing the beta version of Pie, with stable versions expected before the end of 2018.
