No MIUI 10 update for these Xiaomi phones and tablets

Xiaomi released MIUI 10 beta in June but the stable version went live for most devices in Q4 following months of testing. As of December 2018, at least 30 Xiaomi devices have made the switch to the stable MIUI 10 and at least 15 more are still beta testing the custom ROM ahead of the stable release.

By now, the fate of all Xiaomi devices in regards to MIUI 10 is known to us. We know the devices that will be upgraded to the new software and those that won’t. In the former camp, other than Xiaomi Mi 3/4 and Redmi 4 Prime, all devices that are waiting for an update to stable MIUI 10 already have access to the beta version globally.

As for the devices that fall in the latter camp – those that won’t be receiving an update t MIUI 10 – here is the list:

  • Mi 1S
  • Mi 2
  • Mi 2A
  • Mi 2S
  • Mi 4i
  • Mi Note
  • Mi Note Pro
  • Mi Pad 2
  • Mi Pad 7.9
  • Redmi
  • Redmi 1S
  • Redmi 2
  • Redmi 2 Prime
  • Redmi 2 Pro
  • Redmi 2A
  • Redmi 3
  • Redmi 3 Pro
  • Redmi Note
  • Redmi Note 2
  • Redmi Note Prime

Granted, up to 20 Xiaomi devices will be missing out on the MIUI 10 update. Considering that the devices in question are over 4 years old or thereabout, there isn’t much to complain about here. Sometimes forcing updates to devices that have come of age may do more harm than good. Besides, you can always switch to a newer, MIUI 10-compatible Mi or Redmi device especially since Xiaomi products have proven to be very affordable.
