New software update for the Galaxy J7 Core (Russia) and Galaxy A5 2017 (UAE) brings May and June security patches

There are new software updates for Samsung Galaxy J7 Core and Galaxy A5 2017 and while they are similar in nature, they don’t carry the same changes.

Where the Galaxy J7 Core is receiving an update that installs May 2018 security patches, the Galaxy A5 2017 is receiving June 2018 security patches. The former update is rolling out in Russia while the latter is happening in the United Arab Emirates, a region that also started receiving Android Oreo on the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge a day or so ago.

Those using the Galaxy J7 Core should watch out for an update with software version J701FXVU4ARE2 while Galaxy A5 2017 users are receiving an update that installs software version A520FXXU4CREF. Both updates are airborne and thus they may take a few days before they arrive on all units in the two regions.
