Netflix bringing mobile-only streaming plan to India

In an attempt to reel in more customers, Netflix has decided to launch a new mobile-only streaming plan in India.

The U.S-based streaming giant discussed its financial plans with investors on Tuesday, later revealing that a cost-effecting mobile-only streaming plan would be the best bet to introduce the Indian audience to the engaging world of Netflix.

In a letter to investors, Netflix, as per The Verge (via Droid-Life), wrote:

An effective way to introduce a larger number of people in India to Netflix and to further expand our business in a market where Pay TV ARPU (average revenue per user) is low (below $5).

Currently, Netflix’s cheapest plan in India allows a single user to stream in 480P. So, the mobile-only plan, which will be even cheaper, is likely to have the same limitation.

As of now, Netflix doesn’t have a mobile-only plan in the United States. But if all goes according to plan in India, the company might rethink its strategy in other markets, as well.
