N7000BLS4TCE Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean Update available for Galaxy Note N7000

The original Galaxy Note (and its variants) sure seem to be enjoying their share of Jelly Bean leaks these days. Samsung has promised that the Galaxy Note would be getting the official Jelly Bean update before the end of the year, and is probably testing out various build s before it pushes out the final deal.

A few days ago, we had written about the leaked XXLSA Android 4.1.2 firmware for the original Note N7000. And now there is another brand new leak, specifically the N7000BLS4TCE Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean Test firmware for the Galaxy Note GT-N7000B. This new leaked firmware is based on Android 4.1.2 and is from the Mexican provider TelCel.

Sammobile has tested this firmware extensively, and confirms that it works as good as any other official firmware from Sammy, with S-Pen features being the only exception. Perhaps Samsung is still in the process of testing the S-Pen features on Jelly Bean before they out the official update.

And since this firmware is specifically for the GT-N7000B, which is a regional GSM variant, it seems to include different icons and widgets, and guess what, for all you superhero lovers, Spiderman HD is Pre-Loaded! The firmware is about two weeks old, and it is recommended that only experienced folks try it out. Not that there are any major bugs, but if you’re a big S-Pen user, you might want to flash back to stock.

Here’s a list of the new features and changes the N7000XXLSA firmware comes with:

Some of the Enhancements in the new Jelly Bean Update:
– Android 4.1.2 – Build JZO54K
– Buttery Smooth Performance & Great Stability (Thanks to Project Butter)
– Multi-View (Multi Windows Multitasking, same as in Note II)
– Multi-View can also be disabled
– Ripple Effect on Lock Screen
– Page Buddy
– Notification Panel can now be customized
– New Additions in Notification Panel
– Smart Rotation (Screen Display adjusts to your angle of sightings)
– Continues Input in Samsung Keyboard (Like Swipe or Android 4.2 Keyboard)

Read on to know how you can flash the N7000BLS4TCE Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean Test firmware on your Galaxy Note GT-N7000.

How to Install N7000BLS4TCE Android 4.1.2 Firmware on Galaxy Note GT-N7000

  1. Backup all your apps, data and settings.  Backup your Apps and important data — bookmarks, contacts, SMS, APNs (internet settings), etc. This Android backup guide would help you. Be sure to make a backupso that if anything goes wrong with the flash, you can restore your data
  2. It’s important you have all the proper drivers for the phone installed. If you have installed Samsung’s Kies software, you already have the drivers, so download them only if you haven’t installed Kies.
    Download links: 32 bit (x86) Windows  |   64-bit (x64) Windows
  3. Download the N7000BLS4TCE firmware.
    Download N7000BLS4TCE  |  Filename: N7000UBLS4_N7000TCELS1_TCE.zip
  4. Extract the N7000UBLS4_N7000TCELS1_TCE.zip file to a folder on your desktop.
  5. Download Odin. If you are new to this, Odin is what is used to flash stuff – firmware, kernels, etc. – on Samsung phones. We’ll use Odin to flash the firmware files obtained in step 4.
Download Odin3 v1.85  |  Filename: Odin 1.85.zip [Update: Odin3 v3.04 replaced by Odin3 v1.85, as it looks like the old version works better.]
  6. Extract the contents of the Odin 1.85.zip file to a folder on your computer. You should get this fileOdin3 v1.85.exe – you’ll be using this software to update the Galaxy Note.
  7. Turn off your phone and wait for it to shut down completely.
  8. Now, put the Galaxy Note in Download Mode — press and hold these keys together: Volume Down + Home + Power. A Warning! screen will show up; press Volume Up key to continue to enter Download Mode.
  9. Open Odin by double-clicking on the Odin3 v1.85.exe file (from step 6).
  10. Click the PDA button in Odin, then browse to and select the CODE_N7000UBLS4_619662_REV02_user_low_ship.tar.md5 file you obtained in step 4.
  11. Next click the Phone button in Odin, then  browse to and select the MODEM_N7000UBLS1_REV_05_CL1228938.tar.md5 you obtained in Step 4
  12. Lastly click the CSC button in Odin, then  browse to and select the CSC_TCE_N7000TCELS1_619662_REV02_user_low_ship.tar.md5 file you obtained in Step 4
  13. Leave everything else in Odin as it is. Just make sure that Re-partition is NOT ticked
  14. Connect your phone to PC now. You should get the message “Added!” under Odin’s message box in the bottom left. If you don’t get this message, then probably there is a problem with drivers. Make sure you have all the  proper drivers installed (check step 2). Also, if you have Kies installed on your PC, then make sure to completely close it.
  15. Now, hit the START button to start flashing the firmware on the phone. When the flashing is complete, your phone will automatically reboot — and when you see the Samsung logo, you can safely unplug the cable. Plus, you’ll get a PASS message (with green background) in the left-most box at the very top of Odin. What to do if Odin gets stuck: If ODIN gets stuck and doesn’t seem to be doing anything, or you get a FAIL message (with red background) in ODIN, disconnect the phone from the PC, close ODIN, remove battery on phone, re-insert it, then repeat the procedure from step 8.
  16. [Important] After you get the PASS message and the phone reboots, the phone might get stuck at the booting animation/Samsung logo. If that happens, perform the following steps to make it boot. Remember that these steps will wipe your personal data like contacts, apps, messages, etc. If your phone has already booted, skip these steps, the flash has been successful:
    1. Boot to recovery mode — for which, first power off phone (by removing battery and reinserting it). And press and hold the ‘Volume Up + Home + Power’ buttons together. When the screen turns on, let go of the buttons to boot into recovery. Once you are in recovery mode, use volume keys to move the selection up and down and power key to select the option.
    2. Go to Wipe data/Factory Reset and select it. Select Yes on next screen.
    3. Then, select reboot system now to reboot the phone, which will now boot properly.

Congratulations! You should now be running the latest Android 4.1.2 based N7000BLS4TCE test firmware on your Galaxy Note. If you’re not a big S-Pen user, you should be good to with an almost official Jelly Bean firmware on your Note. Enjoy the buttery goodness and additional performance boost that Jelly Bean comes with.
