Motorola Moto Z2 Pie update and more: AT&T now rolling out September patch

For the latest Motorola Moto Z2 Force and Moto Z2 Play software updates, you are in the right place. On this page, you’ll find all that you need to know with respect to minor and major software updates for the Moto Z2 duo, including all carrier variants – be it their timelines, the changes they bring to the devices, the software version, and even the download links.

Moto Z2 Android Pie update

Expected release date: Q4 2018 for Moto Z2 Force; Q2 2019 for Moto Z2 Play

The Motorola Moto Z2 Force was among the first devices to receive Android Oreo, but given that there’s a new kid on the block, the Moto Z3, the 2017 flagship has now become the company’s second priority. In short, we don’t expect to see Android 9.0 Pie arriving on the Moto Z2 Force ahead of the Moto Z3, but we can guarantee that the device will receive the update, probably in late 2018 or in early 2019.

Like its predecessor, the Moto Z2 Play will receive a second major OS upgrade in Android Pie. However, we are looking at a possible Q1 or Q2 2019 release date, which is still a long way to go. So far, the Moto Z2 Play has already received an update to Android 8.0 Oreo, the first major OS upgrade but given that the Moto Z3 Play is already among us, the 2017 model will obviously be playing second fiddle to the 2018 model.
