Moto Z2 Play specs may not feature a large battery

Motorola’s last year premium phone the Moto Z Play will soon get a successor. Past leaks have revealed quite a bit about the Moto Z2 Play. In fact one such image leak showed the phone in full glory and slim form which Motorola has maintained, albeit at the cost of its battery.

Yes, this successor to the Moto Z Play which had a beast 3510mAh battery battery will in fact get downgraded, in terms of battery power, as per a VentureBeat report based on marketing material.
The report suggests that Motorola will pack in a 3000mAh battery underneath Moto Z2 Play which will be capable enough to provide 30 hours of usage time. This is 20 hours less than what we get from Moto Z Play. All this only to give its successor a more slim look.

Other specs on the Moto Z2 Play definitely gets an upgrade. The phone will be powered by octa-core Snapdragon 626 SoC clocked at 2.2GHz paired with Adreno 506 GPU. The Moto Z Play display has been retained with a major bump in storage capacity with 3GB of RAM and 32GB ROM. On the imaging section, the rear camera will be of 12MP with f/1.7, dual autofocus pixels and a 5MP front camera to shoot selfies. It will be available in Lunar Gray and Fine Gold and shipped with Android 7.1.1 Nougat.

We wonder how well will a successor to a battery phone augur with its power capacity reduced only to enhance its slim form and design. But then, there’s always Motorola’s Turbo Charging feature as well as Moto Mods which should come in handy. Would you like to see a more powerful Moto Z2 Play or one with better designs?
