Moto G4 won’t jump to Android 7.1.1 update, will get 7.0 first where still unreleased

The Moto G4 won’t be making the cut to Android 7.1.1 as revealed from a tweet by Motorola’s German arm, Moto Deutschland. The Moto G4 and G4 Plus in India and other countries received Android 7.0 Nougat pretty early on.

The update to Android 7.1.1 for the Moto G4 can be expected around January or February as Motorola will be preoccupied with CES and MWC for a while.

Contrary to this news, the last year’s Moto X Play is expected to get the bump up to Android 7.1.1, as revealed by the benchmark listing at GFXbench, which also hinted us about the Android 7.1.1 update for Moto X Style/Pure. And this may also include the Moto X Force, Moto X Pure and even Moto Z Play.

Samsung is also waiting on the Android 7.1 release for the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge and going for Android 7.0 instead, but this is limited to Vodafone Australia as of now. Other carriers may carry over to Android 7.1.1. Sony on the other hand will be making the jump to Android 7.1.1.
