The best part, however, isn’t how great Xiaomi is with updates, it’s how non-discriminatory they are. From top-of-the-line flagships to budget smartphones, everything’s neatly covered by Xiaomi’s safe MIUI umbrella.
The Chinese OEM is bringing Google’s latest Android 10 in the shape of MIUI 11. MIUI 11 won’t bring too many cosmetic changes, but we are guaranteed to see some functionality improvements. The beta version went live for the Mi 9 SE, last month, and now the company has started making the stable build available to other devices.

November 16, 2019: Xiaomi is rolling out MIUI 11 to the Redmi Note 8 to the Chinese variant of the device with the Global/India units set to get the update soon. The latest firmware carrying version 11.0.2.0.PCOCNXM is still based on Android Pie.
November 15, 2019: An update weighing 483MB hits the Redmi 4 bringing MIUI 11 to two-year-old phone. The package carries version MIUI 11.0.2.0.NAMMIXM but the device still runs on Android 7.1.2 and an year-old October 2018 Android security (as per a screenshot shared by MIUI forum user). Redmi Note 4 also receives MIUI 11.0.2.0.NCFMIXM OTA update weighing 458MB, while the Redmi Note 5 Pro gets MIUI 11.0.3.0.PEIMIXM at 544MB. MIUI 11 update on Redmi S2/Y2 gets re-released, bumping the software to version 11.0.2.0.PEFMIXM.
November 14, 2019: Mi 9 Lite and Mi CC9 are both getting a taste of Android 10 as Xiaomi starts rolling out MIUI 11 beta version 9.11.12 to beta testers of the devices. The update also brings along November 2019 Android security and it shouldn’t be long before the update goes stable.
November 14, 2019: Redmi Note 8 Pro receives MIUI based on Android 9, rather than Android 10. The update shifts the build number to MIUI 11.0.1.0.PGGINXM and weighs 587MB. Redmi Note 7/7S units get a MIUI 11 re-release with MIUI version 11.0.6.0.PFGINXM, weighing 810MB.
November 12, 2019: As part of the third phase of rollout, the Redmi Note 6 Pro, Redmi 5, and Redmi 5A start receiving their respective MIUI 11 update packages. The Note 6 Pro gets version 11.0.1.0.PEKMIXM weighing 565MB. Updates on Redmi 5, and Redmi 5A have versions 11.0.1.0.ODAMIXM (458MB) and 11.0.2.0.OCKMIXM (476MB) respectively.
November 11, 2019: Mi 5s and 5s Plus start receiving stable MIUI 11 updates. The OTA update weighs 1.68 GB and shifts the build version to 11.0.2.0.OAGCNXM on the Mi 5s. On the Mi 5s Plus, the MIUI 11 update carries the version 11.0.2.0.OBGCNXM and weighs 1.70 GB. Mi Note 10/CC9 Pro gets first MIUI 11 build with version 11.0.3.0.PFDCNXM based on Android 9 Pie.
November 10, 2019: Xiaomi’s more recent budget phones – Redmi 8, and Redmi 8A are getting the MIUI 11 update based on Android 9 Pie. Redmi 8 gets version 11.0.1.PCPINXM weighing 544MB while the Redmi 8A shifts to version 11.0.1.PCNINXM through an OTA update weighing 600MB.
November 9, 2019: Mi MIX, and Mi Max 2 get OTA update to MIUI 11. The update to Mi Max 2 has version 11.0.2.0.NDDMIXM (at 1.81 GB) based on Android 7.1 while the original Mi MIX gets version 11.0.2.0.OAHMIXM (1.49 GB) based on Android 8.1.
November 8, 2019: Global MIUI 11 update hits Mi Note 2 with version 11.0.2.0.OADMIXM and weighs 623MB.
November 8, 2019: Xiaomi re-releases MIUI 11 update for Mi 9 Lite with October 2019 security. The update is still based on Android 9 Pie and shifts the build to V11.3.3.0.PFCMIXM on global units and V11.3.3.0.PFCEUXM on European units.
November 07, 2019: MIUI 11 has started rolling out to Xiaomi’s lower-end smartphones as well with Redmi 6, and Redmi 6A units in India are now getting the update. The update on the Redmi 6, weighing 508MB, has version number 11.0.1.0.PCGMIXM while the Redmi 6A welcomes version 11.0.4.0.PCBMIXM and weighs 517MB. Besides MIUI, both devices get October 2019 Android security.
November 07, 2019: Like many of its Mi-branded siblings, Poco F1, too, has finally started receiving the highly-anticipated MIUI 11 update. Sadly, the OTA only brings some subtle visual changes and not Android 10, as many had hoped. The update is currently available in Germany.
November 06, 2019: Mi Play, Redmi Note 5, and Redmi 5 Plus units across the globe are getting MIUI 11 OTA. The update on the Mi Play is still based on Android 8.1.
November 06, 2019: Xiaomi has added Redmi 7, Redmi Y3, Redmi Note 8 Pro and Mi 9 Lite to MIUI 11 update list. Redmi Note 8 Pro users are currently receiving the update in Canada.
November 05, 2019: Second MIUI 11 update has started rolling out for Mi 9. The package weighs 178MB.
November 05, 2019: Xiaomi has rolled out Android Pie-based MIUI 11 to Mi 8, Mi Mix 2, and Mi Mix 2s (India). The package for Mi Mix 2s carries software version MIUI V11.0.4.0.PDGMIXM and weighs in at 1.9GB.
November 05, 2019: Xiaomi has also made the final build of MIUI 11 available to Mi 9, Mi 9T Pro, and Mi 9 SE. Unlike the Redmi K20 Pro, the update on the Mi 9 SE isn’t built on Android 10 but the other two phones get the latest and greatest goodies from Google. It’s currently rolling out in Europe and weighs in at around 2.3GB each for the Mi 9 (version 11.0.5.0.QFAEUXM), and Mi 9T Pro (version 11.0.3.0.QFKEUXM). November 05, 2019: After Redmi K20 Pro, Xiaomi has started rolling out its latest skin to Mi 6. Yes, you’re correct, the Chinese OEM is now rolling out the stable build of MIUI 11 to the 2017 flagship, across the globe. The package carries software version MIUI V11.0.3.0.PCAMIXM and weighs in at 725MB.
November 04, 2019: Xiaomi has started rolling out Android 10-based MIUI 11 to Redmi K20 Pro (Mi 9T) in India. The 2.2GB update carries software version MIUI V11.0.1.0.QFKINXM and brings a host of exciting features.
October 29, 2019: Xiaomi is constantly striving to deliver the latest software even to its less expensive devices, and this release is a prime example of the company’s intent. As per a Reddit user, Mi Max 3 has become the latest device to get MIUI 11. We’re not sure which regions are getting the update first, but a wider rollout seems to on the cards.
October 29, 2019: The global variant (MIXM) of Mi 9 has started receiving Android 10-based MIUI 11 in Thailand. We’re not sure what other regions are being covered at this point, so, make sure to keep checking for updates, periodically.
October 29, 2019: The Redmi Note 7 Pro has started receiving the stable build of MIUI 11. The OTA, which carries software version MIUI 11.05.0.PFHINXM, brings MIUI exclusive features, such as Quick Reply, new sound effects, minimalistic UI, neat MI perks, and more. The update package weighs around 750MB.
October 29, 2019: Xiaomi has started rolling out MIUI 11 for Mi 9T in Brazil. The update carries version 11.0.2.0 but seems to be still on Android 9 Pie (as per a Reddit user).
October 23, 2019: Xiaomi is rolling out the stable version of Android 10-based MIUI 11 for Redmi K20 and Redmi 7A in India. The update, which carries software version 11.0.2.0, also brings the September 2019 security patch. If you don’t get the update notification automatically, you could check for the update manually by going into Settings.
MIUI 11 beta release

The first iteration of MIUI 11, which is currently running on Xiaomi Mi 8, Mi Mix 2S, and Mi Mix 3, is based on Android 9 Pie, as Android 10 still wasn’t available at the time. The first Android 10-based MIUI 11 build was rolled out to Mi 9 SE.

As mentioned in the section above, Xiaomi rolled out Android Pie-based MIUI 11 to three devices soon after the unveiling at an event in China, last month. As per reports, the company is already working on an Android 10-based build for these devices.

MIUI 11 Problems
Xiaomi’s latest custom Android-based skin has already rolled out to a bunch of its devices and gotten a grand reception. However, as refined as it is, even MIUI 11, too, isn’t without its fair share of bugs and glitches.
AOD not working
This issue has been reported by multiple users, so far. Thankfully, this one comes with a pretty straightforward fix. To turn on Always On Display, you are required to have your battery saver off. Switch battery saver on and try again.
Can’t customize status bar
If you’re into heavy customization, you are likely to tweak the appearance of your status bar, one time on the other. Sadly, themes developed for MIUI 10 won’t run as expected on MIUI 11, so, it’s highly likely that you won’t get the result you were looking for. Wait for developers to release themes for MIUI 11 and customize to your heart’s content.
YouTube Premium isn’t as customized for MIUI 11 as we’d like, so, there have been instances of unpredictable behavior. As per many users, the app isn’t working properly in Picture-in-Picture mode and is getting minimized altogether. A clever Redditor has come up with a solution, asking you to minimize the video you wish to play before putting it in Split-screen mode. For a detailed explanation, check out the video below.
