MIUI 10 stable released globally for Redmi Note 5, 5 Pro, Mi Mix, Mi Mix 2, Mi 5, Mi 6, Mi Note 2 and Redmi S2

MIUI 10 global stable

Earlier this week, Xiaomi started rolling out the stable MIUI 10 update to several smartphones in China and today, the same update is now available across the globe, but not for all devices that have been testing the beta version.

The initial release, actually, started a few days ago, but it was one to test if things go well before the full rollout. This is why it was limited to the Redmi S2, also known as Redmi Y2 in India, but now those using Xiaomi Mi Mix 2, Mi Mix, Mi 6, Mi 5, Mi Note 2, the Indian Redmi Note 5 Pro and the global Redmi Note 5 (not the Indian Redmi Note 5) are also getting the stable MIUI 10 on the global ROM.

The update is rolling out over the air and so far, the initial rollout is based on Android Oreo, although some of these devices are destined to receive Android 9 Pie updates too, but possibly somewhere in 2019. OTA updates usually take days before all units get the download notification, so be patient.

If patience doesn’t interest you, try forcing the update via Settings > About phone > System update and check for updates manually. Alternatively, you can grab the recovery file from this page and install it manually. The same page also has a guide on how to install MIUI 10 on your device, you know, just in case you need some help.

Although Xiaomi hasn’t mentioned, it’s likely that the incoming MIUI 10 stable OTA update is targeting current users of the stable MIUI 9, meaning that if you are currently using MIUI 10 beta version, you’ll have to go the manual way in order to get the stable version, otherwise, the OTA that is coming your way is MIUI 10 beta 8.9.13, which, BTW, started rolling out a couple of days ago.
