Since its debut on the web, Android Messages has been available on Android.com (messages.android.com), but in the latest update, the search giant is now making the messaging app available on Google.com (messages.google.com).
This is in response to the change of name from Android Messages to just Messages, making sure that fans don’t think of the messaging app as an Android-only app but as a Google app that can be used on any other supported platform.
More on this imminent change was evident at the MWC 2019 following Google’s decision to detail the changes coming to Messages on the new messages.google.com and not the usual messages.android.com. And now, the search giant appears to have begun the transition to the new domain, where the latest Messages for Web now appears on Google.com.
Besides the shift to the new domain, Messages for Web has also picked up new RCS settings under the Advanced section of the now isolated Settings page. From here, users can toggle RCS chat features on and off, disable read receipts and even those typing indicators from appearing on the other end.
Google is already inviting those who are still accessing Messages for Web via the old domain to switch to the new address, so be sure to make the switch, especially if you want to enjoy future updates with new features.
