Magisk v13 beta version now available for download

Magisk, short for Magic Mask has been elevated to the version 13 in the beta channel. The latest beta version introduces Unified Binary, Manual Injection, etc, but let’s not get too technical right now. The new update basically makes things easier for ROM developers and others, which in turn help us to have a better user experience.

Magisk is a system-less root interface different from SuperSU, and functions in a way that is more preferable for many apps or ROMs. This version will work from Android 5.0 Lollipop all the way till Android O (Developer Preview 2).

If you’re entering the root and custom ROM scene only now, here’s some free advice. Rooting is pretty much good for your device and brings out a lot of hidden potential from your smartphone or tablet, but the main problem is that most OEMs void warranty on unlocking the bootloader.

So, think it through before you proceed. A good time to get your device bootloader unlocked would be right when the warranty expires. Another minor caveat is that certain bank apps do not work on a rooted device which may prevent you from using your smartphone as a daily driver, but here’s to hoping that Magisk will be able to hide root from these apps since that is what Magisk is popular for.

The Magisk v13.0 is a beta release, you may run into a few bugs using it, so you make sure the device you use it on isn’t your daily driver.
