LG X5: Specs, Release date, and more

LG X4 Plus

Like the 2016 model, the LG X5 is a budget phone that rides on the back of features like LG Pay and fingerprint scanning, but it takes some notes from last year’s LG X500 as far as battery capacity is concerned.

LG X5 specs
  • 5.5-inch HD display
  • MediaTek MT6750 processor
  • 2GB RAM and 32GB storage
  • 13MP main camera
  • 3MP front camera
  • 4500mAh battery
  • 154.7 x 78.1 x 8.6 mm

From the look of things, the LG X5 is here to take over from the LG X500, which is otherwise known as LG X power2, LG K10 Power, or LG X Charge in other markets, but there isn’t much of an improvement, at least on paper. In fact, a lot has been retained in terms of specs, including the screen size, performance specs, and the already mentioned battery capacity.

Although not highlighted, we believe the LG X5 is powered by Android Oreo out of the box.

LG X5 price and availability

LG has just announced the X5 and while availability is expected to kick off in June 2018, this is only confirmed for the Korean market. Whether LG will sell the phone in other markets is still unclear, but we do believe it will be marketed with a different name in markets outside Korea.

In Korea, the LG X5 is expected to cost about 300,000 won, which translates to about $280. Given that the only impressive thing about the X5 is the huge battery capacity, we find it quite difficult to justify this pricing, especially when the market has devices like Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 and Note 5 Pro or even the ZenFone Max Pro M1 that are cheaper and way better than the X5 in nearly everything.
