Google Android 10 update

LG V50 Android 10 update

  • The device is eligible for Android 10 update
  • Stable version expected in Q2 2020 (based on LG V40’s Pie rollout)

LG hasn’t been very reliable with updates lately, with the company releasing the Pie update for the LG V40 (global) only in June 2019. Thanks to V50’s flagship status, the smartphone is certain to get a taste of Android 10, but expect to wait for more than six months after Google’s initial release this year.

However, this could change, too! Here’s why.

A case for an early Android 10 release!

First of all, LG has been participating in Android 10 beta updates this year. Even though the device LG chose for Android 10 beta was not V50 (it was LG G8), participation means that LG has been working on Android 10 update for a long while now.

This should help the OEM reduce the time it required it to create a final stable build, or even a decent beta build and roll it out to its users. Even if LG G8 gets Android 10 first, LG V50 won’t be far behind.

If all goes well, we might see LG release Android 10 beta for G8 sometime in October, and quickly follow it up with V50’s Android 10 beta in October-November 2019 only. This will give us a good platform to expect a stable Android 10 update in December 2019-January 2020.

Do you see this happening?

Otherwise, and if the tradition holds up, we may not see Android 10 on V50 in Europe and the US until Q2 2020.
