LG Q8 is essentially an LG V20 but in a smaller body

After introducing the LG Q6 series recently, the South Korean tech giant has quietly announced a new handset which goes by the moniker LG Q8.

The smartphone is essentially an LG V20 but comes in a slightly smaller body along with waterproofing — both of which were the downsides of the original LG V20.

As for the specs, the Q8 comes with the same Snapdragon 820 SoC under-the-hood which is hooked to 4GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable onboard storage.

There’s still a secondary display at the front, but only the primary display is now 5.2-inches with a QHD resolution. There’s a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 4 running on top of it.

The imaging department is taken care of by a 13MP f/1.8 and 8MP f/2.4 sensors on the back and a 5MP f/1.9 sensor at the front. As mentioned earlier, this time around, the smartphone gets an IP68 rating (dust and water resistance).

Other features include a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, IR blaster, 3.5mm headphone jack, 32-bit Quad DAC, and a 3,000mAh battery. The smartphone runs Android 7.0 Nougat-based LG UX 5.0 out-of-the-box. There’s no word on the pricing or availability details of the smartphone currently.
