LG G7 Fit: Availability, where to buy and all else

IFA 2018 officially kicks off on September 1, but companies are already on the roll with early announcements of devices that will be unveiled at the main event. We recently saw Huawei announce its plans for Android 9 Pie update and now its LG, where the Korean company has two new phones on the market – the LG G7 One and LG G7 Fit.

You can find out more about the LG G7 One here, but in this post, let’s talk about the LG G7 Fit. First, the specs.

LG G7 Fit specs

• 6.1-inch QHD+ 19.5:9 FullVision display
• Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor
• 4GB RAM
• 32GB or 64GB expandable storage, up to 2TB
• 16MP main camera
• 8MP front camera
• 3000mAh battery
• Android 8.1 Oreo
• Extras: Bluetooth 4.2, USB-C, NFC, New Second Screen, AI CAM, Google Lens, QLens, Boombox Speaker, 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC, DTS: X 3D Surround Sound, IP68 Water and Dust Resistance, MIL-STD 810G Compliant, Face Recognition, Fingerprint Sensor, Quick Charge 3.0, etc.

From a design perspective, the LG G7 Fit is similar to the LG G7 One and G7 ThinQ for that matter. It has a 6.1-inch QHD+ display screen with a notch at the top and on the back, you get a single-lens camera system that isn’t that premium. LG says the G7 Fit is here to bridge the gap between midrangers and high-end phones and to do so, the company saw fit to go for a 2016 flagship processor, the Snapdragon 821. At a time when Xiaomi is bridging the gap between midrangers and high-end phones with the Snapdragon 845-powered Poco F1, it will be interesting to see how the G7 Fit performs on the market.

Unlike the G7 One, the G7 Fit has two storage options, but it misses out on the dedicated Google Assistant key. The rest of the design stuff mostly remain the same as the LG G7 ThinQ, including IP68 dust and water resistance, MIL-STD 810G certification, Boombox Speaker, and so on.

In terms of software, there’s Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box with LG’s skin on top and although not talked up, the device should be upgraded to Android 9 Pie update.

LG G7 Fit price and availability

As mentioned, LG G7 Fit is seen by the company as the device to bridge the gap between midrange and high-end phones. We are, basically, looking at premium midrangers, a smartphone category that OnePlus, Huawei’s Honor, and Xiaomi have taken by storm with powerful devices packed with the latest tech yet priced favorably, so we hope LG will have this in mind.

Unfortunately, LG says price details will be made available at the time the phones comes to your local shop. The company doesn’t also mention the markets that will get the LG G7 Fit, but we’ll keep an eye on that and update this post.
